The 100th Day of School!

One of my favorite days of the year as a teacher!

So much fun all day long, and ALL of it is learning!

My preschool class is just a 3-day/week class, so sadly we won't make it to 100 days this year.

As a result, I have to live vicariously through my sweet daughter, who will celebrate her 100th Day of First Grade today!

She really wanted to WEAR 100 things, so here's what we came up with.

We picked up a t-shirt at Hobby Lobby, along with a pack of safety pins.

I printed onto coardstock large numerals '1' and '0' from Word and cut them out.

I pulled out a strip of scrap denim from an old pair of jeans, and my Wonder Under. (Keeping old jeans is a lifesaver in the craft room! Never buy denim off the bolt again!)

I traced and ironed the numerals with the Wonder Under, and adhered them to the shirt. 

Then she counted out 100 safety pins and I stuck them on.

She LOVES how it turned out, which is my favorite part!

She can't wait to wear it tomorrow and I can't wait to take pics for my scrapbook. :)

{Little Girl Crossover Purse}

My daughter has masses of dress-up purses (my old ones), and lots of Princess and misc bags to play with. We actually could purge a few! But as she played the other day, I realized that when we go shopping with her money or gift cards, for some reason I'm still in charge of the currency. Not really intentionally, just out of habit.

At 7, it's about time she kept up with it a bit!

Enter: Mom...with a "little girl purse" idea.

I started measuring her. I knew I wanted it to go across the body so it didn't get lost in the excitement of Barnes & Noble or Build-a-Bear. (Anyone else have daughters?)

Here's what I came out with, using old jeans from my stash and misc scraps.

I had a 'first', and didn't put the straps inside the lining. Instead I finished the ends and sewed them in an "X" to each side, then added a button for looks.

Here's the skinny if you want to make your own!

Lining (2): 7 1/2" x 8"

Exterior (2): 7 1/2" x 8"

Straps: I cut her strap fabric to 2 1/2" by about 37", but measure your own kiddo for accuracy

Buttons, embellishments, Wonder Under, misc.

The body is made from jean pant legs, the straps are literally made of scraps, and the flower on the front I die-cut with my Cuttlebug and ironed on with Wonder Under. I think I boxed the corners at 1".

 My fave part is the strap. I've never made anything "scrappy" with fabric (not sure why), and I love how it turned out.

Perfect size for her cash, gifts cards, chapstick, and sunglasses!

{Little Man Onesies}

I know these are all over the internet, but these were a first for me and were so fun to make!

My baby sister is having her first baby, a little boy, in early July, so it was the perfect time for me to try some of these. I bought 3 onesies in 3mth, 6mth, and 9mth. I'm picturing him wearing these to church with some little dress shorts or pants. So cute!

I got my how-to over at Crap I've Made , where there's a very easy to follow tutorial. I'd never used Wonder Under before and it was so easy I feel like making lots of things with it, LOL! These took such little time, and so little fabric (you really can use scraps). Big reward for very little work.

I can't wait to give them to my sister!

I picked up this quarter because it reminded me of a 70's look. :)

I'm thinking of what cute holiday-type t-shirts I could make for my daughter now. Stay tuned!
